Top pairings

For more classic events with civil or symbolic ceremonies Sponza Palace or Rector's Palace would be a great match. In case you opt to start with a less formal ceremony, venues on Island of Lokrum would bring your guests an exciting day, with a boat ride in between.

For church weddings St. Blaise, St. Ignatius or Dubrovnik Cathedral are suitable since they are close (visible on the image in background)

...with no ties to Croatia except that my now-husband and I had visited the country once and absolutely loved it, the idea of having a wedding so far from home was a little scary however, as soon as I began working with Kristina, I knew that everything would work out. I reached out to multiple planners in Dubrovnik, and Kike was the only one to respond immediately and gave me so much great information that I knew I wanted her to be my organizer. When you're planning something as big as a wedding, and especially from so far away, you need someone who is on top of communications and will get back to you right away, which is exactly what Kike did.

Kike Does Everything

Not only did Kike plan my wedding, but she also helped with the rehearsal dinner and planned a party for our guests the day after the wedding as well. She was my point person to all vendors (catering, hotel, music, photography, videography, lighting, decorations, hair/make-up, etc.), which meant I only had to work with one person instead of trying to coordinate with multiple people, which I believe is key to a successful destination wedding.

Kike Goes Above and Beyond

We had a Catholic ceremony in the Dubrovnik Cathedral, and Kike worked with the Diocese in Dubrovnik to ensure all of our paperwork and program was in order. She went with us to meet with the priest a couple days before the wedding and helped us navigate the Catholic ceremony process in a foreign country, which was extremely helpful.

Originally on the wedding day, I was going to be dropped off at Ploce Gate with my bridal party, and we were going to walk to the church from there. However, a couple days before the wedding, I changed my mind and decided that I would like to be dropped off in front of the church. Usually you need to tell the city weeks in advance since no cars are allowed in the Old Town, but Kike was able to get special permission from the city last minute to make this possible.

Furthermore, we were in charge of providing all our own drinks for the reception. While this was a great deal, we were apprehensive about having to purchase and deliver enough water, juice, sodas, wine, and alcohol for 65 people for a 6-hour reception. However, Kike made this process almost too easy for us! She brought us to a wholesaler who helped us pick out the drinks and quantities, delivered the drinks for us, and took back anything unopened.

Dubrovnik Knows Kike

When you decide to get married in a foreign country, you need someone who knows the location well. Kike knows the Dubrovnik, and Dubrovnik knows Kike. We arrived in Dubrovnik the week before the wedding, and everywhere we went, from the restaurants down to the nail salon and spa, everyone knew Kike and raved about how great she was. Having a network like that is so important. I never felt like we were getting ripped off or taken advantage of because everyone is working for Kike, and everyone loves Kike. We also made a lot of last minute decisions days before the wedding like deciding that wanted special lighting and heat lamps at the reception. Kike was able to make this all happen for us last minute, and I believe that has a lot to do with her strong network in Dubrovnik.

Fairytale Wedding

Our wedding in Dubrovnik was truly a dream come true. On the wedding day, I was able to relax and actually enjoy it because I knew everything was being taken care of. We had 65 people travel so far and spend a lot of money getting there, so it was so important to us that they have a good experience. Mission accomplished. As I write this, six weeks have passed since the wedding, and my guests are still talking about the wedding and how much fun they had. From the ceremony in the Dubrovnik Cathedral, to the cocktail cruise in the harbor, to the reception at the Museum of Modern Art, to our second day celebration at Rural Estate Čilipi, it was a magical experience that was genuinely the best weekend of our lives.

Sponza Palace
The palace is a mixture of Gothic and Renaissance styles, which was typical for the conservative Dubrovnik Republic of those times. It is a large rectangular building with an inner courtyard. An open porch communicates with the square in front; another porch opens on the first floor in front, that makes Sponza an ideal Dubrovnik wedding ceremony location, central yet very private.

Dear Kristina and her wonderful team,

We've been back home for almost two weeks now and we still can't stop talking about the wedding and how well it all went. Our friends and family were amazed at the venues, the food, the music, the decoration, and the atmosphere. They also raved about the way the day was organised - so much so that one friend wishes they could hire you to plan their wedding in Portugal next year! Shame it's not possible. You and your team did everything we asked of you and much more.

Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into our day. Please thank your team on behalf of us, especially Nikolina for marrying us and Veronica for putting so much fun into the photo sessions.
We wish you every success in the future and hope to see you in London soon.

Best wishes,
Berna & Gordon, Sponza Palace wedding in July 2010

St. Lawrence Fortress
"NON BENE PRO TOTO LIBERTAS VENDITUR AURO" – Freedom is not to be sold for all the treasures in the world placed above the gate of the two drawbridges that lead to the fort.
FORT LOVRIJENAC

The fort houses a chapel of St. Lawrence, and its courtyard with a cistern serves as a magical venue for theatrical performances. A large number of plays has been performed here within the Dubrovnik Summer Festival programme. Compared with Elsinore, Lovrijenac Fort has become the perfect world famous setting for Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Hi Kike,
We feel the same. We had such a magical time and we loved Dubrovnik, its people and everybody who helped us with our wedding. You and your team did an outstanding job. Every time we think of it we have a huge smile on our face and would love to go back in time. The feedback we got was incredible!

You are amazing. Let us know if we can ever be a reference for you and we look forward to seeing you in Dubrovnik soon.

Island of Lokrum
Lokrum or Lacroma is an island in the Adriatic Sea, a 10 minutes boat ride from Dubrovnik, Croatia. The Austrian archduke (and short-lived Emperor of Mexico) Maximilian once had a holiday home on the island. A monastery and a botanical garden survive from his era. A Napoleonic fort overlooks the island. Today Lokrum is a Nature Reserve and a Special Forest Vegetation Reserve. It offers a unique ambience for your wedding in Croatia.

We had our ceremony on beautiful Lokrum Island, and our reception meal in the Dubrovnik restaurant in the Old Town in May 2011. We wanted to get married abroad, and were looking at Greece at first, but soon decided that we wanted something a bit different - not just the same old package weddings. We came across the 'Do you wed me' site by chance and fell in love with the unique locations featured, and bespoke service that was offered.
We wanted to have a wedding that reflected us and our wedding planner Kike and her team very much believe in creating just that for their clients.

We weren't sure that we would be able to afford it, as it looked so glamorous on the website, but because every element of the wedding is flexible we could swap things in and out very easily to keep the costs down. Whatever we asked for Kike was able to provide, or offer excellent alternatives within our budget.

Kike was absolutely superb throughout - highly organised, quick to respond to emails and a pleasure to communicate with throughout all the planning in the months leading up to the wedding, and we felt like we were in a very safe pair of hands.

She often went beyond the call of duty – and even helped us with our accommodation needs, by putting us in touch with the 'Butterfly Apartments' who provided wonderful apartments in and around Dubrovnik for us and our guests.

The whole 'Do you wed me' team are fantastic – from the flowers to the hair and photography – they are a seamless professional team. In particular Veronika the photographer and the video guys were great – never intrusive – but really made us feel comfortable, and made us laugh all day. I am a photographer myself, and have high standards, and both me and our friends and family are all thrilled with the results of the beautifully shot photographs and video.

My husband is a chef, and was very impressed with the quality of food also. Kike ensures that she personally oversees every element of the wedding, and accompanied us throughout the day to ensure smooth running of the wedding.

The 'Do you wed me' clearly pride themselves on a personal service, and by the end of the wedding, you become more than just clients, you become friends too. We would highly recommend 'Do you wed me' to anyone thinking of getting married abroad.

All 20 of our guests fell in love with Dubrovnik, and said it was without question the best and most romantic wedding they'd ever been to. It truly was the happiest day of our lives, and that was down to the 'Do you wed me' team.

Cavtat
Places like Cavtat offering so much to the visitors are quite rare. It's scenery, the rich cultural and historical heritage along with the range of services offered to visitors, meet the demands of the present day, thus making it one of the most attractive destinations on the Adriatic coast. Cavtat is located between the magic city of Dubrovnik on one side, and beautiful Konavle on the other.

Dear Kike,
Thank you for wonderful day, not only for us, but also for all our guests. 2 months afterwards everyone is still talking and dreaming of that day. Your team and all the people you work with did a great job. The catering was beyond our imagination, the music was great and all was captured in fantastic pictures.

All the settings were great, the ceremony in St.Blaise, the boat trip with champagne reception and ....the best...the party at villa Banac in Cavtat...perfect setting with a great sunset! We had to trust you with all these things and all worked out better than perfect!

Thank you very much for all your help, patience and assistance! Best wishes for you and your company

...a true professional is that they make what they do look easy. This was our experience with Kike, who was instrumental in creating the happiest day of our lives for our Dubrovnik wedding. We were married in 2014 in Sponza Palace with a BBQ buffet reception in Hotel Neptun afterwards.

Although we knew how much planning had gone into the day in the weeks and months beforehand, on the wedding day itself Kike ensured that everything ran so smoothly that we could just totally relax and enjoy the experience. Her photographer, Vero, was also a friendly and smiley presence throughout the day, as well as being a talented photographer and wonderful guide to the backstreets of Dubrovnik old town.

Throughout the months of planning, Kike's judgment and recommendations were invariably excellent and aside from her consummate professionalism, she is also a very nice person.

We highly recommend her services to anyone thinking of a Dubrovnik wedding.

Rector's Palace
The Rector's Palace, was the administrative centre of the Dubrovnik Republic. Its style is basically Gothic, with the Renaissance and Baroque reconstructions.
In the 15th century the Palace was destroyed twice in gunpowder explosions. Restored by Onofrio della Cava in the late Gothic style after the first explosion in 1435, the Palace got its present-day size with the central atrium and front portico. Palace is available for wedding events from 6 pm.
The Rector's palace atrium today is one of the most impressive ambient for classical and chamber music concerts traditionally played here, especially during the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.

Atrium is decorated with one small fountain in Gothic style dating to the 15th century and the bust of the Dubrovnik's famous seaman and merchant Miho Pracat, the only such laurel given to the common man in The Dubrovnik Republic.
Hi Kike,
We just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you so much for everything you did for us on Saturday. We had an amazing day and it all seemed to go so smoothly. We cannot thank you enough.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Where is this venue located

Just above Dubrovnik. Views stretch over the Island of Lokrum (south) and the Old City (west). Being close to the main road to Cavtat, this venue could be nicely paired with a wedding reception at Cavtat's Spinaker terrace.

It's 10 minutes ride from Dubrovnik's Old Town. For smaller wedding parties a few shuttles are great, for larger events a coach would be organized easily.

Island of Mljet
Probably the most beautiful and the greenest of all Adriatic's islands, one of the most attractive and most interesting cultural-historical pearls of Mediterranean. Mljet is one of the favourite places visited by couples in love, nature and history lovers, artists and many others... Once on the island most of the people are coming back to visit it over and over again, one of Croatia's top sights
One of the symbols of this national park has got to be the tiny island of Saint Mary which is smack bang in the middle of one of the lakes, on this island is a Benedictine Convent and church that date back to the 12 century.

In the middle of the Great Lake there is a monastery and St. Mary's Church built in 12th century by Benedictines from Monte Gargano, Italy. The church has changed its look trough times under different cultural changes, from Renaissance to Baroque, but central part remained Romanesque style.

Dear Kike,
thank you for making our wedding in Dubrovnik so special! From answering all our emails so promptly, to the absolutely lovely ceremony at the most beautiful and serene location, you handled every detail beautifully and professionally.

I thought it would be different to arrange a wedding in Dubrovnik when we live in Montreux, but you made the process stress-free and easy. We will always remember the very special ceremony at the Villa Agave that really touched our hearts.
All three days were magical and memorable and we can't tell you how many of our guests told us it was the most amazing wedding they had been to. We only wish we could do it all over again.

Church weddings in Dubrovnik
The golden statue of St Blaise holding a model of the Town from 15th century is placed at the main altar of the Dubrovnik's St Blaise Church and it is one of the precious sculptures of the Dubrovnik art in general, made by unknown sculptor from Dubrovnik school.

Ignazio Pozzo architected the St. Ignatius church between 1667 and 1725 and like most Jesuit churches of the period it was modeled after Rome's Chiesa del Gesu, the mother church of the Jesuits. Both the stairway (designed by the Roman architect Pietro Passalacqua in 1738) and the square in front of the church are nice settings for your wedding in Dubrovnik, and also used as venues at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.

Peninsula Pelješac
The two ideal towns of Ston and Mali Ston sit in between the mainland and the peninsula Peljesac. With Dubrovnik, the two towns were the most important in the old Republic of Dubrovnik. The mighty walls defended its salt pans and the rich farming grounds of the Republic of Dubrovnik. The walls are fortified and are 5 km long, which makes them the longest in Europe and second to just the Great Wall of China. The bay of Mali Ston is located between the peninsula Peljesac and the mainland and is a natural reserve and oyster, mussel and fish cultivation area.
Position and distance

Peninsula Peljesac has geographic and natural elements that are making it very similar to the Dalmatian islands that surround it like Hvar, Mljet and Island Korcula. It features a few excellent wedding venues easily reachable by one hour drive from Dubrovnik which makes wedding planning and organisation process smooth.

Konavle weddings
Konavle is a region with particular natural beauties and contrasts: mountain and valley, green hills and naked stone, the blue and the green or, as called by the inhabitants of Konavle, "Gornja" and "Donja Banda". Fringed by the Konavle mountains in the North, bordered by the Adriatic Sea in the South, it reaches from the entry into the Bay of Kotor to the peninsula of Prevlaka in the East, and in the West, it inclines down to the cosy coves of Obod and Cavtat.
Position

Konavle – a place in the very south of Croatia, is the most southern part of today's Dubrovnik Riviera, with whose purchase the Dubrovnik Republic rounded off its territory in the 15th century. Countryside ambient for your Dubrovnik wedding, with proximity to sea and beaches.
